This fellow seems to have an important message about anti-semitism. But he chose to deliver it in the weirdest of formats that makes it unreadable and strips him of all credibility. Even Instagram would work better.
I have no idea if people who try so hard to deliver long texts through Twitter are mentally unbalanced or liars who use the deranged format to preclude any criticism or response.

People who use this format are more likely to have it shared and retweeted. That’s it. Twitter has a Nazi problem;
tweets and accounts that get blocked in Germany and France are not in the US. I agree it’s horrendous which is why so many of these threads end up in a Storify. The other option is for the man to have a Facebook page, where it may have more shares, but would almost certainly get taken down.
Instagram is more for personal photos and is not conducive to essays –a paragraph of comment is long for that format. (I’ve seen people just take photos of their twitter threads and post them on Instagram . They say they’re preparing for the day they’re chased off Twitter but it’s very weird.) Tumblr is more for memes.
Blogs are mostly dead . How many new, recently started blogs have you added recently?

Are people really going to retweet all of the parts of the story in a row? Isn’t that very boring?

People usually just quote the 1st tweet with “Thread” or some comment like that and you’re supposed to click on the quoted tweet to get the whole thread. I’ve seen this work with any tweet in thread as well.

Sometimes there is no story to be linked to. Tweets are off-the-cuff random musings, whereas a story becomes more formal, with attributions etc.
For writers trying to get paid, sometimes these tweet threads are a good way to get some attention. Maybe a magazine editor looks at a series of tweets and decides they could be expanded, and developed into a solid story/article. And then commissions the author to write one.
This is a one way bloggers and freelance writers can get paid work without first giving away the store.
